Working at Tembo: Naga Subramaniam #WeAreTembo

I started with ITM Service Centre Asia, in January 2018 and I have been to many places already. I meet new, interesting people from all over the world. I am getting the chance to see new places and experience new things.

Since ITM’s main development and production sites are in Europe, I have been to The Netherlands and Poland for several weeks too. I have met my colleagues and gotten to know them better. Now I know whom to contact, if I should stumble upon a problem that I cannot immediately solve. Everyone is willing to share their experience and guide me.

Informal contact with colleagues, worldwide

I love the fact that I am working for a machine supplier who is designing machines from scratch. Our organization is relatively informal; I can contact every colleague directly. Therefore, I have easy access to all knowledge available in the organization, worldwide.

Balancing traveling and family time

As a service engineer at the Asian Service Centre, I know international travel is extensive and will involve quite long periods away from home. This can be a lot and I could not have accepted this job without support of my wife, and son. Being back in Malaysia, after a trip, I usually can take a leave of absence from the job, to spend extra time with the family. In the end, it balances out.

Getting lots of training, guidance and coaching

For my career, the chances ITM Service Centre Asia, has given me, are great. I receive a lot of training and guidance from senior engineers. Our managing director consistently is coaching us through every situation. At ITM Asia office in Malaysia, there are training materials and testing equipment available as well. So I am developing myself tremendously and I am well prepared for every situation regarding all our machine platforms.

Keeping in touch with colleagues

When working in a service team it is not very often that all our colleagues are in the office at the same day. Wherever we are in the world, we keep in touch via phone messenger or emails. We share our experiences and whereabouts and get ourselves updated with upcoming schedules or plans. Sometimes we see each other at customer’s sites when we are involved in the same projects. At least once a year and when possible, ITM Service Centre Asia arranges company dinners and gatherings whereby we get together, to have casual conversations and meetings with all of our colleagues.
